Urban Forestry Public Hearing Nears

The City of Tigard’s Urban Forestry Code Revisions (UFCR) project is now entering the legislative process. Based on input and review from Tigard residents, stakeholders and experts in the field, the UFCR project proposal will be reviewed by the city’s Planning Commission.
Tigard has taken a conservative approach in sending notice to all property owners, based on Measure 56 criteria. On January 13, the city sent notice that adoption of the proposed Urban Forestry Code Revisions "may affect the permissible uses of your property." This language is required by state law. The purpose of this notice is to ensure that city residents and stakeholders have ample opportunity to learn about the proposed code and provide comments and testimony to decision makers.
The first public hearing on the Urban Forestry Code Revisions will be held at the Planning Commission meeting on February 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in Tigard Town Hall (
13125 SW Hall Blvd., Tigard, OR 97223
).
Interested parties can offer relevant testimony to influence the Planning Commission before they make a formal recommendation on the Urban Forestry Code Revisions to City Council. If anyone wishes to speak for, against, or comment in any way at the Planning Commission hearing, Public Hearing Tips have been created for their convenience.
Full text of the Code Revisions can be found online at www.tigard-or.gov/ufcr, in addition to project descriptions, frequently asked questions, and a summary of the draft code.
